Plant landscape in “Piazza Vecchia”
As with every year since 2011, I Maestri del Paesaggio, transforms Bergamo into a marvellous stage of nature and beauty. The most tangible expression is the Green Square, the installation in Piazza Vecchia.
Every year the square bears the stylistic imprint of the landscape architect who conceives it and is coherent with the focus of the Event. This year the theme is PLANT LANDSCAPE and the wait is on for the installation created by Piet Oudolf, absolute authority on plant design. which prefers the use of flowers and perennials in gardening.
Oudolf’s landscapes, expertly composed, evoke the history of the place, celebrating the aesthetics of the plant world and inviting the visitor to stop, observe, and reflect. This profound connoisseur of plant behaviour designs landscapes by combining different species of plants and enhancing their specific metamorphoses through the seasons: before, during and after the flowering period.
The installation will be enriched by the lighting project designed by Maurizio Quargnale and Diego Ardizzone, with Lucia Nusiner as coordinator.
